Our Vision Earthworm Tunneling's mission is to revolutionize tunneling technology with all-in-one systems which dig and construct tunnels at much higher rates of speed, at much lower costs, with greater uniformity and usefulness of resulting waste aggregates.
It is our initial goal to attain start-up financing to fully establish our corporation, hire appropriate staff and seek both goverment grants and private capital to begin our research and development.
Earthworm Tunneling is working on an automated system of prefab tunnel construction. Two types of tunnels are in the plans. The first is a long distance aquaduct system 27 feet in diameter. The second is a 50 foot sealed solid waste system that can be built and run at a competitive rate to many landfills and lacking their unsightly above ground exposure. Building a tunnel as fast as the stone can be cut, (at a rate of approximately 1/4 inch per 5 seconds or one mile per 15 to 20 days) a mobile factory cuts stone from the front wall of the tunnel into a size that is usable for concrete. The required amount of aggregate is then mixed in the factory and injected into a series of heated forms that make up the outer skin of the factory, that are also being fed reinforcing material. The factory is connected to a continuously running supply system that both brings in supplies and transfers waste material out at the same time.
We have become deeply invested in the promotion of geothermal energy through increasing technology and furthering public knowledge and understanding of the concepts involved. Geothermal is already used as an energy source in many places throughout the United States and the world, and has the potential of lending its benefits to more and more individuals and businesses as time goes on.
Technological advances in tunneling and drilling techniques will continue to aid in the improvement and acceleration of widespread geothermal use. Flooded tunnel technology, which maintains structural integrity of tunnel walls at extreme depths with internal water pressure, will make projects like large scale geo-thermal exchange systems possible. We will be happy to talk to you about what you can do to learn more, to contribute to the cause, or to install a geothermal system in your own home or business!
